The 2004 Chevy Aveo seen in the Gallery images on our Car Audio website is now a fixture at the store this Fall. This system was completed by veteran installer Ray Janisse before he came to work for Wright’s. It is a USAC sanctioned vehicle that has been, and will continue to be on the competition circuit. While at the store we will be replacing the existing amplifiers, speakers, and subwoofers with an all Rockford Fosgate Power Series lineup. Stop by for a demo today!

In an effort to add iPod and/or satellite radio to any vehicle on the road, the aftermarket has looked at what all these cars have in common (an FM radio), and has pursued the wireless transmission method to accomplish this. Activate your iPod and/or satellite radio device which is stuck to the dash somewhere, dial in a preset FM frequency, hope there are no real FM radio stations around, and it might actually work for a little while. People have all but given up on this technology, as it is impossible to take a road trip without interference from other radio stations somewhere along the drive. Also, the FCC has restricted the output level of wireless transmitters to the point that most FM radios can not pick the signal up.
Want a better way to play iPod through your factory radio? Is your car equipped for satellite radio, but the dealership wants an arm and a leg to install it? If so, read on….
Most modern car radios (again read 2003 & up) have auxillary inputs that are not activated, or in use, and can support some type of aftermarket input (iPod, Satellite radio, MP3, etc.) By activating the auxillary input, the source is fed directly into the radio and not through the FM radio. This improves sound quality tremendously, and is analogous to watching a DVD through an input on a TV instead of watching it on Channel 3/4.
PAC Audio has developed a line of universal interaces which accomplish all of the following:
1. Charges your iPhone/iPOD
2. Allow your iPhone/iPOD to display all pertinent information on the factory radio (playlists, albums, artists, album art, etc.) You are able to pick your music on the iPOD itself, or through the buttons on the factory radio.
3. The iPOD plays through a direct input on your factory radio, not the conventional wireless FM transmission method. This delivers full range audio, typically 10x better than the wireless FM route.
4. Allows Sirius Satellite Radio to now play through the factory radio. No additional mounted hardware is necessary, Sirius Satellite radio simply becomes a new source on your factory radio. This also retains full sound quality, as we are not using the traditional FM wireless transmission.
5. Enables a universal auxillary input into the factory radio. This is a conventional 1/8″ (stereo headphone jack) that all portable MP3 type devices use. This also retains full sound quality, since we are not wirelessly transmitting to the factory FM radio.
If your car is not listed, PAC offers the IS77 ($89) which is a universal iPOD/Auxillary input interface that will work on any vehicle’s car radio. This unit charges your iPOD, and adds a direct input for both the iPOD and an auxillary input through an FM modulator. You still dial in to an FM station to hear the audio, but an FM modulator plugs directly into the car radio tuner, whereas an FM transmitter wirelessly transmits audio in hopes the car’s antenna will pick it up. This unit will work perfectly every time, while the FM transmitter is hit or miss.
